Using the Welsh Language in Food and Drink Settings

According to Sally Shalam, The Guardian Travel writer, visitors these days are ‘looking for an authentic experience, want to stay like a ‘local’ and experience the culture and heritage of Wales by being’ let in’ on special secrets’. One of these ‘best kept secrets’ and which defines Wales as a special place to stay is the Welsh Language.

Bilingualism and an appreciation of different cultures is an essential part of successful companies’ marketing strategies across the world. It reinforces the business’ brand, making it more approachable for locals and visitors alike and is an essential marketing tool for economic development.

The aim of this one-day accredited course is to provide hospitality and food business owners the confidence of using the Welsh Language in ways that enhance the visitor’s experience and to add a sense of heritage and Welsh culture to their business.

The course will include:

  • the history of the language and how we use it today
  • the benefits of bilingualism to your business
  • how to use the language when communicating verbally
  • how to use the language on Social Media, marketing material and signage
